How to make fake cuts- Jessie Almond

For our film we'll need to make some fake cuts for the wrist slitting scene. I went onto youtube to see if there were any good tutorials on how to make realistic fake cuts.

This is probably the tutorial we're going to use.

Teen Drama- Jess Lau

Teen films are a genre targeted at teenagers and young adults where the plots are based on their interests, such as coming of age, rebellion and teen angst. These films are set in high school.

Our film is a teen drama, which is a hybrid. According to Wikipedia, teen dramas often include alcohol, illegal substances, high school/college, parties, all night raves, losing one's virginity, relationships and social groups and their stereotypes.

Our film fits well in this genre because the characters are of college age and are also mildly stereotypical.

Our target audience is males and females aged 15 to 22. The film will start at a house party, where drugs and alcohol will be present. Later on, the relationships between the different characters will emerge.

For our next task, to create the opening sequence to a feature film, I was thinking something similar to the Rules of Attraction. The film can only be described as 'messy'.

It follows a group of very spoiled and overprivileged students in a twisted story about sex, drugs, alcohol and college.
This is very similar to Jess Lau's idea :)

Film Title: Daniel

Duration: 2 minutes

The Hole- is a similar film to ours because it is targeted at the same audience. It also involves alcohol, parties and the characters in the film are of a similar age to ours.

Kidulthood- is a film is set in West London and is similar to ours as it is based around everyday situations that teenagers find themselves in. The film follows a group of individuals and how their experiences got them to where they are. In our film we follow 3 teenagers and flashback to show what happened to get them into the situation they find themselves in.



Synopsis of film:
In the midst of a party a seventeen year old boy is trying to end his life, whilst he's doing this he witnesses something he's not supposed to see- Daniels best friends boyfriend getting it on with another girl. Daniel faints from blood loss, revealing himself to the couple.

Precious - Is a similar film to ours as the characters are the same age, and the film also involves complicated family life and abusive parents, although in our film the abuse is not as brutal.




Synopsis of Film:
A boy named Daniel is depressed and tries to end his life, whilst doing this he witnesses his best friends boyfriend Jack getting it on with another girl. The film revolves around a hospitalised Daniel flashing back onto his life leading up to the moment he tries to kill himself, showing his gradual fall into depression due to his complicated and abusive family life. Also showing his close relationship with Jacks girlfriend, who is Daniels only friend. Meanwhile Jack does everything he can stop Daniel from revealing his secret, him cheating on his girlfriend.
